Forgive me this bit of shameless self promotion, but…
I am launching (relaunching, actually) a Teleport City side project called Jet Set Cinema. It’s a combination of Teleport City material and new, shorter material all concerning swanky, swingin’ cinema with groovy pop art sensibilities (Diabolik, Barbarella, Gerry Anderson’s UFO, Avengers, etc). So if you are bored and want to see me repost Teleport City stuff and call it new, then here you go.
Also, I’m looking for anyone who’d be interested in joining up to write for the site. If you are down with the challenge, put on your best smart suit (or cocktail dress) and leave your message in a hollow rock next to the gnarled oak by the pond in Hyde Park.

I’m looking for opportunities for freelance reviewing. My specialties are kaiju, kung fu, old school sci-fi and peplum.

By the way, this should be under the “hoopla” category. (That translates as “self-promotion and general horn-tooting.”)

I’d certainly jump at a shot at being a writer for the site- somehow, I see this turning into a literary version of Han’s island. Two writers enter, only one leaves…

Well, my mantis style is a bit rusty, so you might come out on top.

I wouldn’t mind giving it a go. Would you be wanting a lot of attention paid to the pop art sensibilities of these movies? I imagine so…
Would “The X From Outer Space” work for this site? I’d love to start off with a kaiju film, since that’s the area of our type of cinema I’m most familiar with and knowledgable about. (And yes, I’ve got my Five Style Fist ready to go if need be.) I’ve seen Diabolik enough times to go over that one too, I’m betting.

We’ll have to enter the death cage as seen in King of the Kickboxers to settle this. See my website for examples of my work.

Nathan: Oh yeah, Hooplah — that’s what I meant. Having “New Reviews” be the default for a post is going to trick me 90% of the time.
To address everyone else:
Blake: Old school scifi and some kungfu (garish 70s stuff starring bell bottoms and Lo Lieh’s greasy mustache) would fit nicely. And there are plenty of kaiju films with these sorts of sensibilities (Godzilla vs the Sea Monster does start off with a go-go dancing competition, after all). And I have a whole stack of Jess Franco and Mario Bava stuff, as well as all those giallo films…
Craig: Similar to Han’s Island, but there is a point I won’t go beyond.
Rev. D.D.: X From outer space is perfect — however, I already have an X from Outer Space repost waiting in the shadows. The pop art sensibilities definitely weigh in heavily for all films.

If I may ask, what happened to your partner-in-crime, Scott Adams?

I keep trying to lure him back, but he’s busy stocking the Jacksonville Public Library with zombie movies and kungfu films. Speaking of which, if you are in Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Public Library’s librarian has stocked the DVD section full of zombie movies and kungfu films.

Anyone who does that at a Public Library is surely a noble giant among men.

Godzilla vs. Hedorah would’ve been my next suggestion, but yeah, I’d forgotten the opening of G vs. the Sea Monster. Hrmm….must go through my collection again….
