Is there an inadvertent theme visible in the two offerings this week in Month of the Living Dead 9? There is indeed: Titles.
The independent zombie film Contagium bit off more than it could chew when it was retitled Day of the Dead 2: Contagium (2005) before release…
…whereas the mediocre horror film Zombies (1964) got a new lease on life when it was later retitled I Eat Your Skin for the drive-in circuit, and derives what notoriety it has from that title alone.

Snake venom as a cancer cure? Puh-lease! That was old hat in 1890!

Irradiated snake venom sounds like something from a ’50s sci-fi movie.
Or a Marvel origin story. “Snake-Man! With all the powers of a snake! He can….crawl really fast! And eat a whole turkey in one bite! Criminals fear his mighty rattle….which they hear from blocks away, giving them ample time to escape!”
He could’ve joined the Legion of Losers. Or the Superfriends, since he’s still more helpful than Aquaman. Perhaps the Legion of Doom would be better, as he’d be more useful than 60% of the roster.

This was retitled to double-bill with “I Drink Your Blood”, a Mansonsploitation film about Satanic hippies getting rabies from contaminated meat pies. “I Drink Your Blood / I Eat Your Skin”. Geddit? They should have had another called “I Externally Digest Your Eyeballs” or something.
