Is there anything more annoying than being quite sure you own a film, then finding out at the critical moment that you don’t?
Mind you, it speaks volumes that this was the one I didn’t buy…

And with that done, I think I’ll go and have a quiet psychotic break…

Liz Kingsley is the insane genius behind And You Call Yourself a Scientist!

Well now I’m glad I ended up too busy to read all those reviews last weekend. (Not that I’d have reread them all over again just for this; I’m not quite that far gone.) As far as I know my Saturday is, and will remain, wide open, so I can do it right, as well as catch up on the indefatigable Keith B.’s stuff. Maybe I’ll get lucky and have a review from Ken or Will as well.

So, you’re feeling lucky, are you, punk? 🙂
Word of advice: don’t overdose on these like I did; just now I’ve got that queasy, post-junk-food feeling.
Fun fact: at the time I posted this review, I had had 666 site visitors…

I’ve read your entire Ft13th series in one sitting. More than once. I’m confident I can handle this.
In fact, I even know when I’m doing it: During the Oscars.
It just feels right.

Hey!! There’s are two Oscar winners associated with this franchise, see if you can spot them! 😀

Oh boy, fun and games with Lyz! I accept your challenge, and will hopefully not embarrass myself by failing to spot either of them!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand done! Time well spent.
For a while, I wondered if you were going to spot Dino de Laurentiis one for La Strada, since I figured the winners would be in the first two, maybe three movies. Then I got to the fourth…
My answers are: Rod Steiger and Patty Duke. What do I win?

Regarding the use of “sucks” in the film. I was a teenager in the NYC metro area in the late 70s and early 80s and the use of “sucks” was pretty ubiquitous.

Though it was not something you’d say at the dinner table, as my parents often made clear.

It didn’t become widespread here until The Simpsons, which was 1990. (Thank you, Bart.) I was assuming it was in reasonably common usage during the 80s, but coming from a twelve-year-old kid in 1975 – in front of his parents – it did feel out of place.

A great big virtual hug? 🙂
Good call on Dino…and actually, I’ve got another one: Richard Fleischer won an Oscar for Best Documentary, which I’d forgotten about (and after calling attention to Jonathan Penner’s nomination in that category, I can hardly leave it unnoted).
So that’s four, plus a whole bunch of nominees, from Burt Young to Lalo Schifrin! (Is it too early to mention Jennifer Jason Leigh?)

Until such time as I may be blessed to receive a real one, I shall be happy with this reward.
My nosing around on some of the actors appearing in the movies that I haven’t seen led me to quite a few of those nominees. Very surprising, all told.
