I don’t know if you’ll find this of interest or not, but your B-Master colleague Jabootu also reviewed this film under its alternate title “Commando Girls.” He was, as one might anticipate, noticeably less impressed.
It’s my understanding that the 1970s and early 1980s featured any number of films in which people could, inexplicably, become skilled martial arts combatants at a moment’s notice. People becoming skilled commandos at a moment’s notice is but a “logical” extension of that phenomenon into the mid-1980s; I don’t think that many will disagree with the notion that the Reagan era wouldn’t have particularly welcomed the notion of a *pre-existing* crack commando unit of women — if I’m not mistaken, the most recent previous attempt back then was The Doll Squad (1973)* — and thus one was formed for the occasion.

And even that film started with (uh, SPOILERS, I guess) most of the pre-existing Doll Squad being assassinated…
