…in which an armless man who earns a living as a circus performer by throwing knives with his feet falls in love with his beautiful young assistant, who has a deep-seated phobia about men’s hands.
Why, yes—this is a Tod Browning / Lon Chaney collaboration; how did you guess?

This movie made me fall in love with Lon Chaney all over again. Learning how to do all that crap with just his feet, for one movie role…who else would do that? Daniel Day-Lewis, maybe? The movie is really good on its own, but unsurprisingly Chaney takes it to another level by himself. Highly recommended…unless you’re particularly squeamish, since it’s one twisted tale.
It’s from the guy who brought us Freaks, so you should already expect that, I suppose.
