Just commenting here because, considering that this roundtable is specifically inspired by this film (or possibly the story it’s based on), it seems absurd that nobody’s commented yet (I know people have been commenting on the AYCYAS site, but still…). I have more to say about the (wonderful, as usual) review, and some thoughts it inspired in me, but I’ll probably put it on AYCYAS, if I get around to it…

It is kind of surprising, but this place has been fairly quiet lately on both sides of the aisle. I suppose nothing gold can stay.

Gentlemen!
Sorry: between some internet issues and efforts to get my second post done, I’ve been neglecting my correspondence.
Nobody’s obliged to comment, of course; though it’s always nice when they do. And we do appreciate that we need to put a little more in to get a little more out…
Thank you, Alaric!

Lovely review. It’s really motivated me to go watch this one.
Sometimes it’s good to go back to the original (at least filmic) source of a popular old trope. Even more so when that offers some interesting slants on the original text itself.
