“shown every Christmas on television”? Interesting; I’ve never heard of it before, and I grew up in the UK at about the right time to have seen it.

Thanks for your comment. An old film reference book I read during my research stated that “Digby” was broadcast every Christmas. Either the annual broadcasts were stopped long ago, or the writer of the reference book was simply wrong.

I saw this as a kind on TV some 40 years ago, and it’s hilarious that you mention the prop mouth as “providing some memorable images”, because that it is almost literally all I can remember about it! I remember someone being tossed around on the giant dog’s tongue? The only other thing I remember the annoying theme song sung by kids, which mostly the title being sung over and over again.

If you want to refresh your memories of the movie, you can always click the YouTube link at the bottom of the review… though honestly I think you’ve forgotten almost all of the movie over the years for good reasons.

I actually remember liking it ok then, but I think I’d be horrified by my poor taste as a kid if I saw it now. I had that experience with The Last Dinosaur, which I loved when I first saw it but when I saw it again as an adult…woof!
