Even for an entry in The Month of the Alternative Living Dead roundtable, Blood of the Vampire is determined to be as troublesome as possible. The evil Dr. Callistratus, condemned and executed as a vampire, but brought back to life by a 19th century heart transplant, victimizes the inmates of a Prison for the Criminally Insane, seeking a cure for his condition. Can a similarly misunderstood, progressive but condemned young doctor stop him? How about a tragically deformed hunchback? Would that work?
