We’ve all got them, right? – those relatives you’d rather not acknowledge – that uncle who embarrasses you at every birthday party – those cousins you don’t invite to the family reunions (but who show up anyway)? And even if we did want to ignore their existence, film-makers all around the world have spent decades making certain that we can’t. So join us as we call a truce on the Darwinian name-calling, and give our big hairy brothers a hug.
It’s Foot Notes – all throughout the month of May at the B-Masters’ Blog!

Question: How do you decide on which themes you’ll deal on your roundtables?

Well, there are competing theories as to where our topics come from:
1. They are formed naturally, by erosion;
2. They seem to be our choices, but they are in fact dream-messages from the Elder Gods;
3. They appear magically in the hand of a statue of the Buddha at the top of a temple in Lhasa, whereupon they are fetched by specially trained gibbons and delivered to us;
4. We have enough interests and obsessions between us that we always have plenty of options, so we just go with a show of virtual hands.
Theory Number 4 falls into the category of “herding cats”, and is obviously nonsense.

I truly hope it’s the third option. I’d like to imagine all of you gathered at one of your respective homes waiting reverently for the gibbon to show up.

It was a bit larger than a gibbon this time, I’ll tell you.

You should have done this last year, which was the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth.

Halfway through the month, and not one review in this Roundtable! Are you co-ordinating them all for a mass release on the 31st? Not meaning to be rude, but I’m looking forward to this one…

Heh. Somebody thinks we coordinate things around here…

My Roundtable review is ready, and will be posted on the 27th. The reason why I didn’t put it up today is that I don’t want to post too many negative reviews in a row on my web site.
Gee, I guess the above reveals what I thought of my roundtable pick. Oh well. Anyway, I’m pretty sure the other B masters will make it before the deadline.

For some reason, I’m under the impression that Lyz always picks the subject for the Roundtables, considering it’s almost always her who announces them.

She doesn’t pick them, but we did put her sort of administratively in charge a few years back, after Nathan got too busy to handle it anymore. And before Nathan, the sorely missed Dr. Freex was our primus inter pares.

Suggestion: Maybe someone can go to the About the Cabal page and classify Stomp Tokyo as emeritus members, as they’re now retired.
