…I need your help. I plan to self-publish my NaNoWriMo novel, Two Bit Blood, on Kindle and CreateSpace later this spring. I’ve got mockups of three cover designs at NathanShumate.com; fancy taking a peek at them and giving your opinion?

I like the first one. Second ones pretty good as well except the vampire reminds me of an Orc. Now it actually is an Orc that’s a different story. The third feels a bit generic.

I put my thoughts over on your site, but here they are again:
The first one wins on all fronts, I think. It delivers the title best, its image has the greatest impact, and the arrangement of the elements works well. I particularly like the way the center O in “BLOOD” lands right over the eye (to the point where it almost reads an an eye).

Not big on the second one. The third one’s not bad. However, like the ones before me, I think the first one is the best by a fair margin.

I like the overall design of the first cover the best, though I think the Typeface design of the second cover would suit it better. *G* Now come clean: is that a photo of your own face, all feral and bloodied?

No, because a pasty fortyish desk jockey does not make a good cover image, feral or not.

Hey, congrats on finishing and publishing! I got about eight pages in, and my husband has gone completely nuts and is STILL writing his, four months later.
