An animated movie that’s unknown might not sound unusual. But what makes the obscurity of the animated movie Twice Upon A Time unusual is that the movie was produced by none other than George Lucas. Is it up to Star Wars? Or down to the depths of Howard The Duck? Or something between those extremes? Read the review to find out.

OMG, I’ve seen this movie! It’s… trippy. It’s been ages since I’ve seen it, I should see if I can find a copy…
One thing: Greywizard talks about kids enjoying some of the humor, but I’m not sure how appropriate this is for kids. Granted, most of the adult stuff is subtle enough just to go over most kids’ heads, but… I dunno, I’d say watch it first instead of just gathering the kids together for a “family night”.
And finally, Ralph the All Purpose Animal was voiced by the late great Lorenzo Music.

For whatever this is worth, there were actually two slightly different edits of Twice Upon a Time in circulation way back when, one with a rather fouler mouth than the other. The difference is most obvious during Botch’s pre-mission pep talk for the vultures early on: “Now I know some of you have girlfriends and old ladies and all that kind of crap– and I know some of you were hoping to get into their feathers tonight. Well, tough shit!” That was the first time I ever heard a cartoon character talk like that, and as you can see, it really made an impression on me. I saw both edits on cable when I was a kid, which was confusing at first; I think the Movie Channel ran the saltier version, while HBO had the cleaner one.

Oooh, ok. Yeah, looking around the Interwebs a bit, I’m finding info about that.
I saw the HBO version. I know because I grew up a little town that, for some reason, got HBO for free, whereas I’ve never had the Movie Channel anywhere I’ve lived.
BTW, the vultures were called Rudy and the Minions… My brother thought it would be a great band name (this was back before “that would be a great name for a band” became a meme).
