Even then I thought it was a monumentally stupid and ham-handed attempt at “socially relevant” SF, with a dreadful and untenable ending. These are not people with a chance to have developed any sort of survival skills, so ….

I’m reminded of the rather dire Hardware, where… do I need spoiler warnings for a 23-year-old film? I’ll assume not, so feel free to wipe this comment if I do.
Anyway. Where it turns out that the murderous robot is in fact part of a plan to reduce the human population (one by one), and it spends an entire night just trying to reduce the population of this single apartment (and largely failing).
