Even those who don’t care for westerns will probably find Seraphim Falls greatly entertaining, because it concentrates more on action and suspense instead of traditional western elements.

There have been so many TMDG ripoffs that I tend to be quite strict about classifying a story as one. If the bad guy isn’t actually in it for the hunt, if he’s just pursuing the hero because he wants to do him harm, then in my book it’s not TMDG, but a more generic chase film. But, eh, that’s me.
Quite surprising to see the post-Qui-Gon Neeson in something as minor as this.

Certainly I can see why one might classify the movie as a chase film. But there are certain elements in the movie (the wilderness setting, the hero having to rely solely on his skills and smarts, the bad guys being eliminated one by one, etc.) that make me believe the filmmakers got at least some inspiration from TMDG and its many clones.
