Every country has its own niche cinema that is considered crazy by other cultures. The Japanese movie Meta Metta Gakido Koza is one such example, a truly bonkers movie from a western viewpoint – or any other viewpoint.

Mentioning it was a bunch of vignettes had me leery of ever watching this; the last time I watched a Japanese movie that was a bunch of vignettes it was Funky Forest and I’ve regretted it ever since. For years it was our group’s gold standard for painful movies. (Wait, not gold standard…pyrite standard. Yeah, because only fools would inflict these things on themselves. Perfect.)
The clip provided has now made me rather curious about it; I genuinely laughed a couple of times during the blow-up doll bit, what the boy did to the infant surprised another one out of me, and the buck-toothed thing…well, I in no way could have foreseen it playing out that way. Also, the mom is very pretty, and it’s kind of a nice change to see a woman acting like a sex fiend in a Japanese movie, since usually it’s skeevy guys.
Man, Keith wasn’t kidding about that theme song. Even without you mentioning it I would’ve immediately been thinking, “Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-aaaahhhh!…hey, wait a minute! You sons of bitches!”
