Surprisingly funny and well produced, Santa’s Slay may be the best horror movie made concerning a killer Santa Claus.

Huh. A few years ago I read a review of this that pretty much hated it. They had an audio clip of two lines from the opening that were so weird and unfunny they made me want to punch myself in the face. Thus, I never watched it.
Today I read your review, went to YouTube and watched the whole opening sequence. Those two lines still make me want to punch myself (in fact, I didn’t laugh at most of the dialogue before Santa’s explosive entrance), but damned if I didn’t enjoy Santa’s rampage, which had a Jack Frost feel to it. I also liked watching Rebecca Gayheart bite it; it was a small measure of satisfaction for Urban Legend.
So, I guess I’m going to watch this. I really have no excuse anymore; I sat through Birdemic 2 this weekend, after all. I think, leading from my recent slasher binge, I’m going to get caught up on all those Christmas mayhem movies I haven’t seen. At this point it’s only been the original SNDN, one of the in-name-only sequels, and the fabulous Black Christmas (although that’s not quite in the vein I’m thinking of for these movies). Let’s see, I’ve got lines on this one; Don’t Open Till Christmas; that DVD I picked up a while back with two no-budget killer Santa movies, only one of which I’d even heard of; and if I really wanted to, I am sure I could find the BC remake. That seems like a good start, for a certain definition of “good.”

I respectfully suggest that you finish your Christmas shopping before you start on this film binge. Just in case. 🙂

It pretty much already is. I only have the niece and nephew left, and I already know what I’m getting them, so I am set to binge.
