I enjoyed the opening part about animal/people relationships. Quite insightful. Although my older cat is an exception to the rule, as I think he was a dog in a former life, and is consequently pretty easy to read. (Guess he had good karma as a dog; I imagine being a house cat is a step up, since they’re rarely expected to do anything constructive.)
