A few new things around the blog:
There is a new review in Science In The Reel World.
College Coach (1933) is chiefly a look at the state of American college football in the early 30s, but makes the grade due to the team’s star quarterback being also an aspiring chemist.
There is also a new set of short reviews in Et Al. No overarching theme this time, mostly just what I’ve been watching on the Midday Movie – I can do that now! – although you’ll note a few points of accidental overlap.
And there are a few new bits in Random Film Stuff, but I’ll let you find those for yourselves.
.
Liz Kingsley is the insane genius behind And You Call Yourself a Scientist!

Hey! That actually sort of looks like a college chem lab in the 1930s! Or a high school chemistry lab today!

Sadly, there are only a couple of quick glimpses of it in the film – so maybe they took a few shots in a real one?
Hard to imagine that the university is supposed to be in dire financial straits because of the cost of building it, though. 🙂
