The science fiction movie Manborg overcomes its ludicrously low budget – and its Canadian origins – and becomes very entertaining.

The other problem about “doing it for yourself” is that, when there’s only one person writing and directing and starring (or even two of the three), usually nobody’s in a position to say “Bob, this just doesn’t work”. A awful lot of the films dissected here have been projects where one guy was in absolute charge… of course, that’s also where you get moments of unconventional genius.

I’ll have to take a look for this one. Just from the cover art, I’d say the costumes and such look at least as good as a high-end fanfilm, and it certainly sounds like they made the most of what they had.

If you want more of a look at the movie, there are several trailers for it on YouTube. Simply go there and do a search for “manborg trailer”.

Hey. 🙂
I just watched Release Trailer #1 for Manborg, thanx.
I’m quite impressed! I definitely want to see it, youtube rents it for $2.99, I might try to do that this week. It really reminds me of a high-end fanfilm, like “Star Trek:Hidden Frontier”, which is a favorite of mine. I think Y’all will be able to tell that I don’t mean anything negative in stating that, “Manborg” looks very impressive in the trailer, especially given the micro-(nano?) budget.
