No discussion of crazy cinema would be complete without a look at the ninja movies of Godfrey Ho, and Ninja: American Warrior is a good example of his work.

All things considered, I really should make a point to see more Godfrey Ho ninja movies. I’ve only seen one, maybe two, and I really don’t have an excuse for that, particularly nowadays when it seems damn near everything is on DVD. They don’t always maintain the nuttiness, but the parts that do are pure gold.

The best one I’ve seen so far is NINJA TERMINATOR, in which the non-Caucasian scenes feature Legendary Superkicker Hwang Jang Lee in a blond wig. The ninja also communicate via toy robots.

Three, four, masked, faceless… distinctions like this are meaningless to the true ninja.

There was a DVD of Ho’s “Catman in Boxer’s Blow” sitting, alone and unloved, in a thrift shop about half an hour from my house. It had been sitting there for months, priced at $2 — roughly twice the budget of a Godfrey Ho film.
Keith, after I read your review, it inspired me to go back and find it. It was still there, after all this time, and now it’s come home to live with me.

I haven’t gotten that one yet. I’ve had Catman in Lethal Track for a while now. It’s pretty fun. Please let me know how the sequel is.
