That giant turtle movie you all saw on TV as kids and has haunted you for decades since is The Bermuda Depths. You’re welcome.

One neat discovery I’ve made reading horror movie blogs is how many experiences that I thought were unique to me are in fact shared by a huge cohort of people around my age. The Bermuda Depths is definitely one of these. For years I had vague haunting memories of this from catching it during its run as a movie of the week. Until about 5 years ago, however, I had no idea that there were actually legions of people who saw it back then and still remembered it.
It’s similar to my discovery that I was far from alone in thinking that Ginny from FT13 part 2 was one of the best final girls, or that April Fools Day was sadly underappreciated.

I saw this in January while up in Chicago, thanks to Ken. Man, it’s a weird one, but enjoyable. And not just for the turtle, although yes, my favorite scenes involved it. Well, that or Connie Selleca.

This is one of those movies that I don’t want to rewatch. I don’t even want to read your review. I worry that any attempt to revisit it will spoil my memories.
