OK, I know. It’s bad form to be late to a Roundtable that was my idea in the first place… especially considering my near-total non-participation in the Cabal this year. Trust me, it’s not out of a lack of interest.
In the meantime, here’s a review to prove I’m actually still alive:
I spent my teen years hoping someone would make a movie out of Michael McDowell’s “Cold Moon Over Babylon”, and my adult years hoping they wouldn’t. Now that they have, the result is a good news/bad news situation: the good news is the movie is remarkably faithful to the book. The bad news… is exactly the same.

Fine review, Will! I feel like I’ve heard of “The Elementals,” but I have no experience with Mr. McDowell, and it sounds like I need to rectify that.
It was nice to see you echo my thoughts on I Am Omega, but I feel like your “heaven help up” should’ve gone to Lake Placid 3 (that whole series is garbage, really) or perhaps Swamp Shark (which is pretty bad until the last ten minutes or so); Ghost Shark is easily the best of those three movies, and I genuinely liked it.

I’m delighted to hear that the film did the book justice. McBowell’s novels have an honored place in my library.
