Saw this one about twenty years ago. From what I can recall, yes, the main issue was that it clashed between trying to take a more serious documentary style, and throwing in aliens and interpersonal conflict and heart attacks. Would’ve been better going off for one or the other, although, given the budget maybe only the latter might’ve worked.
