And here we are, with two zombie movies that are worlds apart in terms of tone and style (though both are actually pretty good):
Colin (2008) – Yes, the “$75 zombie movie.”
Night of the Seagulls (1975) – Wrapping up the Blind Dead series on a highish note.
Aaaand out!

I’m told there’s an unofficial fifth BLIND DEAD film directed by Jess Franco. Have you considered tracking that one down?

That’s Mansion of the Living Dead (1985). It’s on my list to see eventually, but I haven’t felt the obligation to put any effort into it.

Oh, and it’s good to see that this year’s Month of the Living Dead ended on a fairly high note, considering the two movies you reviewed.

RE: The Greek VHS cover near the top of the poster/box art array– Heh. “The Zombies’ Big Night.”

You know Greek? Cool — I’ve got some Greek VHS cover scans for unknown movies; I might have to send them to you…

Well, sort of. I read it phonetically, and I’ve spent enough years persuing the Nerdly Arts that I’ve got a decently broad vocabulary of words that served as the roots of technical terms in English. I couldn’t string a sentence together, but there are a few grammatical constructions that I picked from scraps of Greek-language text encountered in footnotes to books I’ve read on the history of the half of Europe that comprised the Byzantine Empire’s sphere of influence. Factor in an apparently innate talent for languages, and I’m reasonably qualified to translate Greek movie titles from a poster or the front of a video box.

Mansion of the Living Dead only rips off the look of the Blind Dead (but cheaper, way way cheaper), though for Eurosleaze, that was enough to get it included, sort of like marketing Penitentiary as part of the Rocky franchise. Mostly, Mansion is a movie about Lina Romay getting naked and wearing a bad wig.

Which nobody would ever have seen coming from Jesus Franco. No, not at all…

And I, for one, never get tired of seeing coming from Jess Franco.
