A third of the way in and Edgar Wallace is nowhere much to be seen. On the other hand, there’s fights, guns, robberies, explosions, Edgar Allan Poe-esque deathtraps and murdered chairs. So there’s that anyway. Join us as the action continues in The Fatal Spark.

Speaking of spiked ceilings and other death traps, I have to wonder… who maintains these things? Someone’s got to be opening access panels every now and then to apply some WD40 to the mechanism; otherwise the thing might jam from rust at the worst moment. Or a rope could break…
Probably the worst offender is the first Indiana Jones movie. There’s this whole series of complex traps with delicate trigger mechanisms that has supposedly lain untouched and undiscovered for who knows how long – and _everything_ works perfectly once Indy swipes the idol. And couldn’t he have just climed down a rope through the hole in the roof that let the shaft of sunlight illuminate the idol?
