Seems to me that this is the sort of film that got completely destroyed by the jet age that was getting going in the sixties: all of a sudden, lots of people could do long-distance international travel, and just showing a weird foreign country wasn’t enough any more. This may have been an attempt to prolong the genre (it’s not just a weird foreign country, it’s surfing in a weird foreign country).
