One of the BBFC’s sticking points was realistic violence presented in a cartoonish way — sure, they didn’t want viewers to see actual gore, but neither did they want viewers to think “hey, this is fun, and nobody’s really hurt, I’ll try it myself”. I can see where they were coming from, at least.
